ProFound Gets Gates Foundation Investment for AI Maternal Health Research

ProFound Therapeutics has received an investment commitment of up to $35 million from the Gates Foundation to support AI based research into preeclampsia and eclampsia.

ProFound Therapeutics has received an investment commitment of up to $35 million from the Gates Foundation, including an initial $20 million, to support AI based research into preeclampsia and eclampsia, the company announced in a press release.

The funding will support ProFound Therapeutics' ProFoundry platform and agentic AI capabilities. The company plans to use the platform to identify new biomarkers, protein drugs, and drug targets linked to preeclampsia and eclampsia.

ProFound will study proteins from the expanded human proteome that are expressed in placenta and serum samples from women with the conditions. The work also includes creation of an AI tool specific to preeclampsia and eclampsia.
