Open Banking API Calls to Surge with AI Integration
The volume of Open Banking API calls is expected to rise significantly, reaching over 720 billion globally by 2029, according to Juniper Research. This represents a 427% increase from the 137 billion calls projected for 2025.
The growth is largely attributed to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into open banking services, which is enabling the creation of personalized banking solutions. Generative AI (GenAI) is playing a crucial role in this transformation by offering personalization at scale, particularly in Europe where API quality standards are stringent.
Juniper Research highlights that AI is not only enhancing banking offerings but also streamlining business operations. The report also identifies emerging markets in the Middle East and Africa as key areas for growth, driven by improving digital banking infrastructure and evolving regulatory frameworks.
