Bank of England Survey Finds 80% of UK Financial Firms Use AI Agents
86% of UK financial services firms surveyed use AI, up from 75% in 2024, according to a joint survey by the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority. Generative AI made up 56% of all reported AI systems, compared with 17% for foundation models two years ago.
80% of respondents said they have AI agents in production, and another 14% plan to deploy them within a year. Most agents have limited autonomy: they recommend actions while humans decide and execute. Only 2% of firms reported agents with broad autonomy.
About 7% of reported AI systems were rated high materiality, down from 16% in 2024, although the absolute number rose. Operations and IT accounted for about 31% of AI systems. The survey covered 196 firms, including 95 smaller firms that could answer a shorter questionnaire.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
