Stripe Adds AI Agent Access to Treasury

Oct 24, 2026
Stripe Treasury now lets startups use agents such as ChatGPT and Claude to check balances, pay invoices, transfer funds, and convert currencies.

Stripe announced in a press release Stripe Treasury for agents, which lets startups manage financial tasks through agents including ChatGPT and Claude. Businesses can use agents to check balances, pay invoices, transfer funds between accounts, and convert currencies.

Startups can choose which accounts and data an agent can access, whether it can only read information or also take action, and when a person must approve money movement. Agents connect to Stripe data and its API through Stripe's model context protocol server.

Stripe plans to add support for creating cards and will introduce agent spending limits in the coming weeks. Stripe is not a bank, and checking accounts are provided by Fifth Third Bank.
