Norwegian Ministry of Defence Selects Skydio X10D Drones
The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract to Skydio to supply their X10D autonomous drones, valued at 101 million Norwegian Kroner (approximately $9.4 million USD), announced in a press release. This initial tender will see Skydio, in collaboration with Oskar Pedersen AS, deliver these advanced small uncrewed aerial systems (sUAS) to the Norwegian Armed Forces.
The Skydio X10D platform is engineered to operate in harsh environments, making it suitable for the Arctic and High North regions. It features advanced sensor technology, autonomous navigation, and a modular architecture, which are crucial for military operations. The drones are certified for cold-weather operations down to -20°C and are equipped with Skydio NightSense™ for reliable performance during the extended darkness of Nordic winters.
This contract marks Skydio's continued expansion in supplying autonomous drones to NATO member countries, enhancing their defense capabilities with cutting-edge technology.
