
Mistral AI Unveils Mistral Small 3.1 with Enhanced Multimodal Capabilities
Mistral AI has announced the release of Mistral Small 3.1, a state-of-the-art multimodal and multilingual model. In a press release, the company highlighted that the model surpasses competitors such as Gemma 3 and GPT-4o Mini in performance, while offering an expanded context window of up to 128k tokens and inference speeds of 150 tokens per second.
Mistral Small 3.1 is designed to handle a variety of generative AI tasks, including instruction following, conversational assistance, and image understanding. It is lightweight enough to run on a single RTX 4090 or a Mac with 32GB RAM, making it suitable for on-device applications. The model is available under an Apache 2.0 license and can be accessed via the Mistral AI developer playground, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and soon on NVIDIA NIM.
