Migu Uses AI to Redefine Fan Engagement at 2026 FIFA World Cup

Migu, the official broadcaster of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in mainland China, embedded artificial intelligence throughout its coverage to reshape sports viewing experiences announced in a press release. The platform broadcast all 104 matches while introducing AI powered tools that enhanced commentary, analytics, and fan interaction.

Migu's system included AI generated commentary that combined tactical analysis with options for regional dialects. A tactical visualization engine illustrated player movements graphically, while an AI assistant provided match insights, player tracking, and automated highlight generation. These elements were integrated into a feature suite called AI-Zone, created to make tactical understanding accessible to general audiences.

The company also launched a daily interactive show titled Human vs. AI: Who Is the World's Best World Cup Predictor?, inviting fans to predict match outcomes and scores before kickoff. Over 35 million people joined this prediction program, with up to 7 million participating in a single match. The challenge involved 12 AI foundation models from Migu and Lenovo Tianxi AI, which achieved an average prediction accuracy of about 65 percent compared with roughly 58 percent among human participants.

Through these initiatives, Migu aimed to move AI from a background function to a central element of the viewing experience, transforming audience participation into interactive engagement across the tournament.
