The NBA is giving its Ask NBA chatbot a larger role in its app, with answers based on league data, diagrams and links to related games. Other updates include automated game summaries and new statistics created with Amazon Web Services.

NBA is giving its Ask NBA chatbot a larger role in its app ahead of the 2026 season tipoff, according to Sportico. The chatbot answers questions using league data and can include diagrams and links to related games.

The app also adds Game Pulse, a feed with highlights and statistics that update in real time. An algorithmically generated paragraph at the top summarizes how each game has unfolded, while an icon identifies content generated through cloud services.

The league worked with Amazon Web Services to create statistics that measure the difficulty of dribbling moves, identify zone defense and track offensive performance against it. AI summarizes the metrics in reports available before and after each game. The NBA plans to add personalized chatbot answers based on each user's statistical knowledge and integrate more video into the feature.
