HSBC plans to launch a Global AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore in the second half of 2026, the bank announced on its website.

The centre will develop AI capabilities for use across HSBC's global network. Initial work will focus on customer wealth journey conversations, agentic treasury solutions, and digital payments using AI.

HSBC plans to create roles for more than 100 AI specialists. The roles will cover natural language processing, data science, AI governance, and human centered design, with staff working alongside Chief AI Officer David Rice and teams in wealth management and global payments solutions.
