Google Enhances AI Bug Bounty Program with Increased Rewards
Google has announced updates to its AI Vulnerability Reward Program (AI VRP), offering rewards of up to $30,000 for ethical hackers who identify critical security and abuse issues in its AI systems. This initiative aims to enhance AI safety by encouraging third-party researchers to discover and report vulnerabilities.
The updated program provides clearer guidelines on eligible security and abuse issues, such as rogue actions and data exfiltration, while excluding content-related problems like jailbreaks and prompt injections. These content issues require long-term solutions and are not covered by the AI VRP.
Since the inception of AI-specific rewards, researchers have earned over $430,000 for reporting vulnerabilities, contributing significantly to Google's layered AI security strategy. The program's enhancements include a unified reward table for abuse and security issues, ensuring consistent rewards for high-impact findings.
