Galaxy Repurposes Helios Data Center for AI and HPC
Galaxy is repurposing its Helios data center in West Texas from a bitcoin mining facility into a hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC). This transformation is part of Galaxy's strategy to meet the growing demand for scalable infrastructure in these fields. The Helios campus, which currently has 800 megawatts of approved power capacity, is set to expand to 2.5 gigawatts over the next decade.
A significant milestone in this transition is a 15-year lease agreement with CoreWeave, which underscores Galaxy's diversification strategy. This agreement provides a stable revenue stream that is independent of digital asset prices. Helios's ability to rapidly deploy AI infrastructure by repurposing existing assets positions it as a key player in the emerging West Texas Data Crescent, a major AI data center market in the U.S.
Galaxy's efforts at Helios are aimed at providing the necessary infrastructure to support enterprises and innovators pushing the boundaries of AI. The company's infrastructure strategy is part of a broader commitment to serve the digital economy end-to-end.
