FinOps Foundation Introduces AI-Focused Training and Certification
The FinOps Foundation has launched a new training series and certification titled "FinOps Certified: FinOps for AI," aimed at helping practitioners manage AI-related cloud spending. This announcement was made at the annual FinOps X conference, as announced in a press release. The certification is designed to equip FinOps practitioners with the skills needed to understand, manage, and optimize AI-related expenses.
The "FinOps for AI" certification is a four-part education series that will be released in phases, starting with an introductory course available immediately. Subsequent levels will be rolled out from September 2025 to January 2026, culminating in a certification exam available from March 2026. The curriculum covers foundational and advanced topics such as AI-specific cost allocation, workload optimization, and financial strategy alignment with AI innovation.
This initiative reflects the FinOps Foundation's commitment to advancing practitioners' skills as they navigate the complexities of AI cost management. The certification aims to provide a structured path for cloud and FinOps teams to confidently manage the unique cost dynamics associated with AI services.
