EU Leaders to Discuss AI With Mistral CEO and Geoffrey Hinton
The European Council will hold an informal meeting in Dublin on November 13 focused on artificial intelligence, President António Costa said in an invitation letter. Taoiseach Micheál Martin will host the meeting, which will bring together EU heads of state or government.
Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch will discuss Europe's position in the global AI market, including competitiveness, sovereignty, infrastructure, energy, investment and industrial adoption. Nobel Prize laureate Geoffrey Hinton will lead a separate discussion on security, trust, fundamental rights, child protection, democratic processes, market concentration and cybersecurity.
EU leaders will then discuss the region's approach to AI over lunch. Costa plans to conclude the meeting by 16:00 and return to the topic in 2027.
