Emergent Launches Wingman, a Messaging-Based Autonomous AI Agent
Emergent has launched Wingman, a messaging-first autonomous AI agent, reports TechCrunch. The Bengaluru-based startup, known for its vibe-coding platform, is expanding into the growing category of background AI agents that complete tasks autonomously.
Wingman operates within messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage, enabling users to manage tasks through chat. It integrates with tools like email, calendars, and workplace software, running in the background to handle routine actions while requesting user approval for more significant steps.
Emergent introduced "trust boundaries" in Wingman to balance autonomy and user control. The company said the agent is being rolled out as a limited free trial, after which access will be paid. Existing Emergent users can access Wingman through their current accounts.
Founded in 2025, Emergent has over 8 million users of its vibe-coding platform and raised $70 million in January at a $300 million valuation, backed by investors including SoftBank, Khosla Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
