Eli Lilly Licenses SpeechDx Data for Alzheimer's Research

Oct 28, 2026
Eli Lilly will use the SpeechDx dataset to study speech as a marker for Alzheimer's disease risk and cognitive decline.

Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation announced in a press release that its Diagnostics Accelerator licensed the SpeechDx dataset to Eli Lilly and Company. Lilly will use the data to study whether speech can support Alzheimer's research and help identify cognitive decline.

SpeechDx combines speech recordings with biomarker data, diagnoses and clinical outcomes from people ranging from cognitively unimpaired participants to those with Alzheimer's dementia. The study follows more than 2,000 participants for three years, providing data for training and validating AI models that analyze changes in speech over time.

Lilly is the third organization to license the dataset, following Siemens Healthineers and Callyope. Speech can be collected through microphones in smartphones and computers, allowing researchers to examine it alongside established Alzheimer's biomarkers.
