Claude Leads 26% of Anthropic Model Research Work
Anthropic says Claude now leads 26% of its model research and development work, according to The Associated Press. This means the model can complete most of a task from a high level prompt while remaining under human supervision.
Claude contributes to about 90% of the company's research and development under closer human direction. Its share of work classified as leading rose from zero in February to about one quarter in August. Anthropic said roughly 30,000 agents were performing research and engineering work as of August.
The company said models that accelerate their own development could become harder for people to understand or control. It called on other AI developers to publish comparable metrics regularly as a way to track progress toward systems that can autonomously build their successors.
