Anthropic is expanding its AI for Science program through partnerships with 20 scientific foundations, institutions and research groups worldwide, the company said in an announcement. The program provides free Claude credits to researchers working across biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, climate science and mathematics.

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Simons Foundation, Schmidt Sciences, US National Science Foundation and other funders will distribute credits to researchers. Institutional participants include the Space Telescope Science Institute, Wellcome Sanger Institute, Francis Crick Institute, European Molecular Biology Laboratory and Gladstone Institutes.

Anthropic will also provide credits directly to new research projects, including Princeton University's FlyWire brain mapping project, Columbia University's LEAP climate research center, the Broad Institute's gnomAD genetics database and Tau Ceti, which is building a shared mathematics library in Lean.

Some projects will produce open datasets, software, standards and shared libraries. Anthropic also supports the Allen Institute's work on teams of AI agents for scientific data analysis and a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard, which lets AI agents operate laboratory instruments.
