China Telecom and HKUST Partner for AI and Quantum Innovation
China Telecom and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance AI and quantum technology, announced in a press release. This partnership includes the creation of an Artificial Intelligence Innovation Laboratory and a Quantum Innovation Joint Laboratory.
The collaboration aims to leverage HKUST's research strengths and China Telecom's industrial expertise to foster innovation. Under a '1+2+1' framework, the initiative will focus on research, technological breakthroughs, and talent development. The AI Innovation Laboratory will work on international-standard research and AI technology advancement, while the Quantum Innovation Joint Laboratory will explore quantum computing applications.
Additionally, the partnership will launch a Joint Talent Development Program, including internships and academic exchanges, to enhance the digital technology talent pool in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This collaboration sets a new benchmark for industry-academia partnerships in AI and quantum technology.
