Univers and Starbucks China Partner for AI-Driven Sustainability
Univers and Starbucks China have announced a partnership to enhance sustainability across Starbucks' supply chain using AI and IoT technologies, as stated in a press release. The collaboration aims to reduce Scope 3 emissions by deploying Univers' advanced AI and IoT decarbonization solutions, allowing Starbucks to monitor and measure emissions across its supplier network.
The initiative includes connecting over 7,500 Starbucks stores to a new AI and IoT platform developed jointly by Univers and Starbucks. This platform will enable real-time monitoring of equipment such as HVAC, lighting, and water filtration systems, optimizing energy use through AI-driven insights.
Additionally, the partnership will leverage Univers' EnOSTM Ark Carbon Management System to develop a Supply Chain Carbon Management Platform. This platform will track carbon emissions from core suppliers and products, including milk, beverages, food, and packaging. A Sustainable Dairy Digital Management Tool has also been developed to track carbon baselines and plan decarbonization efforts for dairy, a significant contributor to Starbucks' emissions.
