The AI-RAN Alliance and the Linux Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on advancing AI-native networks and the evolution toward 6G, announced in a press release. This partnership aims to enhance network performance and flexibility by integrating open source principles and cloud-native innovation into AI-RAN (Artificial Intelligence-Radio Access Networks).

Under the MOU, both organizations will focus on open source alignment, technical exchanges, and joint activities to maximize RAN efficiency. The collaboration will leverage the Linux Foundation's open development model and the AI-RAN Alliance's mission to optimize AI-RAN, ensuring transparency and interoperability in the AI-native RAN space.

Arpit Joshipura, general manager of Networking, Edge, and IoT at the Linux Foundation, emphasized the transformative impact of AI on radio networks, while Alex Jinsung Choi, Chair of the AI-RAN Alliance, highlighted the importance of building an open, inclusive platform for innovation in AI for RAN. This agreement is expected to facilitate collaboration among developers, vendors, and operators to deliver AI-powered networks at scale.
