Censys Launches ICS/OT Intelligence Offering for Industrial System Security

October 20, 2025
Censys has introduced a new ICS/OT Internet intelligence solution designed to help organizations identify and secure exposed industrial systems across sectors such as energy, manufacturing, and utilities.

Censys has introduced a new ICS/OT Internet intelligence offering aimed at improving visibility and protection for industrial systems, announced in a press release. The solution enables both government and commercial defenders to identify, detect, and secure exposed assets across industries including energy, manufacturing, defense, and utilities.

The platform integrates protocol-aware scanning, vendor-level fingerprinting, and contextual data into a single resource. It covers 26 ICS/OT protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, Siemens S7, and BACnet, and includes fingerprints for 68 vendors and 226 unique ICS devices. Additional features include automatic screen capture and analysis from systems like CMORE, RedLion, X11, VNC, and RDP.

Censys designed the offering to support exposure validation, threat hunting, and compliance workflows. It is accessible through a user interface and API, with integration options for SIEM and SOAR systems, allowing filtering by geography or vendor.

The company’s experience working with U.S. government partners, including a collaboration with the EPA to secure exposed water sector HMIs, informed the development of this offering. That earlier project demonstrated how enhanced ICS intelligence can directly reduce risks in critical infrastructure environments.
