CAS Introduces Newton, an AI Agent for Scientific Discovery
CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, announced in a press release the launch of CAS Newton, an agentic AI system built to enhance scientific discovery. The tool draws on more than 150 years of verified scientific literature from the CAS Content Collection, providing researchers with conversational access to reliable and context-aware scientific information.
CAS Newton is designed to help scientists navigate complex or conflicting data by generating responses grounded in validated research. The system refines queries through multi-step interactions, synthesizing results across disciplines such as chemistry, biology, materials science, and intellectual property.
According to CAS, Newton can be integrated into secure research environments and connected to organizational data via APIs and external AI platforms. It is available through CAS SciFinder, CAS BioFinder, and a standalone interface. The company states that user data remain private and are not used to train shared models.
