Cartesia Secures $64 Million for Sonic 2.0 Voice AI Model
Cartesia has announced a $64 million Series A funding round led by Kleiner Perkins to enhance its voice AI capabilities with the launch of Sonic 2.0. The new funding will support the expansion of Cartesia's team and investment in research to develop next-generation models and infrastructure.
Sonic 2.0, built on a new state space model architecture, is touted as the fastest and most controllable voice model available. It offers a latency of just 90ms for the full model and 40ms for the turbo version. In blind evaluations, Sonic 2.0 was preferred 1.5 times more than the next best provider.
The model also introduces two new endpoints: a voice changer to perfect audio style and voice, and an infill feature for seamless audio content editing. Cartesia's Sonic API is designed for developers, offering a reliable and fast-serving stack for voice generation with 99.9% uptime.
