Canada Nickel Selects Komatsu for C$1.5 Billion Mining Fleet

Canada Nickel selected Komatsu and SMS Equipment to supply more than 300 machines for the Crawford project, including autonomous haul trucks and fleet management technology.

Canada Nickel selected Komatsu and Canadian dealer SMS Equipment to supply the mining fleet for its Crawford project, the company announced in a press release. The planned purchases cover more than 300 machines with a current value of about C$1.5 billion over the project's 40 year operating life.

The equipment will include Komatsu's DISPATCH fleet management system, FrontRunner autonomous haul trucks and trolley assisted haulage technology. Canada Nickel said the fleet could later transition to battery electric vehicles.

Canada Nickel expects to complete supply and fleet support agreements with Komatsu and SMS Equipment by the first quarter of 2027. It also plans to finalize previously disclosed fleet financing arrangements with Taykwa Tagamou Nation by then.
