Cambium Wins DARPA Contract to Develop AI for Extreme-Temperature Materials
Cambium has received a contract from DARPA to develop artificial intelligence tools for discovering new bio-enabled polymer composites capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, announced in a press release.
The project focuses on using generative AI to balance thermal stability and mechanical strength in structural composites. Cambium and DARPA aim to identify ultra-lightweight polymers that could replace structural titanium in high-performance applications.
According to the announcement, the initiative will address data scarcity issues that have limited previous machine learning approaches by using multimodal AI architectures. The resulting technologies are expected to enhance Cambium's existing AI-driven materials discovery platform for defense, automotive, aerospace, and energy markets.
