bitBiome has closed an oversubscribed seed extension round, announced in a press release. The Tokyo and Palo Alto-based company stated that this latest funding brings its total equity and non-dilutive financing, including grants, to more than 45 million USD.

The new capital will support bitBiome's efforts to accelerate microbial enzyme and pathway discovery and engineering at scale. The company uses a combination of its proprietary single-cell microbial genome sequencing technology, a growing microbial gene database, and AI-based modeling and predictive tools to develop bio-based products.

bitBiome said it will use the funds to expand its global presence and deepen collaborations across industrial biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, synthetic biology, and biomanufacturing. Investors in the round include IQT, IT-Farm, Valuence Ventures, and Darwin Ventures.

The company’s technology platforms, bit-MAP, bit-GEM, and bit-EVO, enable genome analysis, enzyme discovery, and strain engineering. These systems are designed to transform microbial biodiversity into commercially viable solutions for the bioeconomy.
