AWS MSP Validation Checklist 8.0 Adds 24 AI Controls

Amazon Web Services has published version 8.0 of its MSP Validation Checklist, the standard partners must meet to earn and maintain AWS managed service provider validation. The revision builds AI requirements through the whole standard, and some controls that were previously recommended are now required.

The checklist contains 61 controls. Twenty four are new and cover agentic AI platform and lifecycle governance, responsible AI, data governance, prompt injection prevention, agentic Zero Trust, blast radius containment, generative AI and agentic observability, operational toil reduction, AI transformation roadmaps, and new engineering and AI leadership roles. Another 27 existing controls were updated to take in AI capabilities, 10 foundational controls are unchanged, and 15 controls from version 7.1 were retired or consolidated.

The changes were set out by Platformr, an AWS partner, in a press release describing how managed service providers can meet them. Platformr said it is working with partners to assess their coverage against the new controls and close gaps before they seek or renew validation. Its platform centralizes AWS landing zone deployment, governance across multiple accounts, observability, security and compliance monitoring, cost optimization and operational visibility.
