Avalara has secured a $500 million equity investment led by BlackRock's Private Financing Solutions, announced in a press release. Vista Equity Partners, which first invested in Avalara in 2022, will remain the company's majority shareholder. The proceeds from the investment will be used to purchase shares from existing shareholders.

Avalara said the funding supports its ongoing work in agentic AI for tax and compliance automation. The company’s platform integrates intelligent AI agents, enterprise and domain-specific language models, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers within a multi-cloud environment.

The Avalara Agentic Tax and Compliance platform includes embedded checkpoints for human review to maintain control and transparency across compliance processes such as tax filings and registrations.
