Anthropic has expanded its partnership with Amazon, securing up to 5 gigawatts of computing capacity for training and deploying its Claude models, announced in a press release. The agreement includes more than $100 billion in spending on Amazon Web Services technologies over the next ten years, covering current and future generations of Trainium and Graviton chips.

Under the deal, Amazon will invest $5 billion in Anthropic immediately, with up to an additional $20 billion tied to commercial milestones. The companies said nearly 1 gigawatt of Trainium2 and Trainium3 capacity will come online by the end of 2026, with new Trainium2 resources available in the first half of the year. Anthropic currently uses over one million Trainium2 chips to train and serve Claude.

The partnership also introduces the Claude Platform directly within AWS, allowing customers to access Anthropic’s tools through their existing accounts, billing, and security controls. This integration is currently in private beta. Anthropic continues to use AWS as its primary cloud and training provider while expanding inference capacity in Asia and Europe.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the collaboration reflects progress on custom silicon performance and cost efficiency, while Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei noted the agreement will help the company meet rising demand for Claude and support its continued AI research.
