Anthropic Nears First Profit, Signs $45 Billion Compute Deal with SpaceX

Anthropic is approaching its first quarterly operating profit and has entered a large computing agreement with SpaceX, according to Bloomberg. The deal will see Anthropic pay $1.25 billion each month through May 2029 for access to SpaceX's data center capacity, totaling nearly $45 billion over three years.

The agreement, disclosed in SpaceX's initial public offering filing, covers compute access at the company's Colossus and Colossus II data clusters. Both firms can terminate the contract with 90 days' notice, and fees will be reduced while capacity ramps up in May and June 2026.

Anthropic expects second quarter revenue of about $10.9 billion, more than double its previous quarter, leading to an anticipated operating profit of $559 million. The profit would mark a rare milestone among AI labs, which typically face high infrastructure costs to train and serve large models.

The computing deal strengthens Anthropic's ability to meet rising demand for its Claude AI systems, which are widely used by developers and enterprise customers for coding and security tasks.
