Anthropic and Gates Foundation Form $200 Million Partnership for Global Health, Education, and Economic Mobility
Anthropic and Gates Foundation have entered a $200 million partnership to support programs in global health, life sciences, education, and economic mobility over four years, announced on Anthropic’s website. The funding includes grants, usage credits for Claude, and technical support for partners in the United States and internationally.
The largest portion of the partnership will focus on improving health outcomes in low and middle income countries. Anthropic will work with the Gates Foundation and the Institute for Disease Modeling to enhance disease forecasting, accelerate vaccine and therapy development, and support health ministries in using AI to inform policy and resource allocation. Early projects will target polio, HPV, and preeclampsia research.
In education, the collaboration will develop AI tools and public datasets to improve K-12 learning outcomes in the US, sub-Saharan Africa, and India. These include tutoring and career guidance systems powered by Claude and literacy and numeracy apps for students in developing regions. The first public data releases are expected later this year.
The partnership will also fund programs to improve economic mobility by increasing agricultural productivity and supporting workforce development. This includes creating datasets and benchmarks for agricultural AI applications and developing tools that link training programs to employment outcomes in the US.
