Aeva and LG Innotek Partner for 4D LiDAR Production
Aeva Technologies has formed a strategic partnership with LG Innotek to manufacture its Atlas Ultra 4D LiDAR sensor, announced in a press release. As part of the agreement, LG Innotek will invest up to $50 million in Aeva, acquiring a 6% equity stake.
The collaboration will initially focus on the automotive sector, with LG Innotek acting as the manufacturing partner for some of the top global passenger vehicle OEMs. Aeva's 4D LiDAR technology, based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology, offers advanced capabilities by measuring both distance and velocity for every pixel in real time.
This partnership aims to expand the application of Aeva's LiDAR technology beyond automobiles to consumer electronics, robotics, and industrial automation. The capital from the deal will be used by Aeva to further product development and team expansion, with plans to miniaturize the LiDAR system into a monolithic, single-chip design.
