WeRide Launches Fully Unmanned Robotaxi GXR in Beijing

WeRide has received approval to launch its latest Robotaxi, the GXR, for fully unmanned commercial operations in Beijing, marking a significant milestone for the company.

WeRide has announced the approval to launch its latest Robotaxi, the GXR, for fully unmanned commercial operations in Beijing, according to a press release. This marks the GXR's first large-scale commercial deployment in China, following its introduction on the Uber platform in Abu Dhabi last December.

The service will operate in key regions within the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, including high-speed railway stations and highways, such as routes to and from Beijing Daxing International Airport. This expansion is a testament to WeRide's rapid progress, achieving fully unmanned commercial operations just four months after the GXR's official launch.

The GXR features advanced L4-level autonomous driving technology, offering a spacious and accommodating ride for up to five passengers. Users can hail a GXR via the WeRide Go app, available on major mobile platforms. WeRide plans to expand its Robotaxi operations in Beijing to several hundred vehicles by 2025, further solidifying its position as a leader in autonomous mobility.
