Pony AI and Uber plan 2,000 robotaxis in Europe
Pony AI and Uber announced in a press release an expanded partnership to deploy more than 2,000 Pony AI robotaxis across Europe. The plan expands from a commercial service in Zagreb, which is expected to come to the Uber app, to four additional European cities.
The companies said rollout details will be announced in phases. The expanded agreement also includes plans for deployments in the Middle East.
Under the deal, Pony AI will provide Level 4 autonomous driving technology, rider experience systems, and operational experience from robotaxi deployments. Uber will provide booking, payment, and customer service through its mobility platform.
Local fleet partners may handle day to day fleet operations in each market. Pony AI currently operates paid fully driverless robotaxi services in China's four tier one cities.
