October 29, 2025
Thunes and Ecobank Group have announced a partnership to enable instant cross-border payments across Sub-Saharan Africa, beginning with Togo and expanding throughout Ecobank’s 32-country network.

Thunes and Ecobank Group have announced a partnership to enable instant cross-border payments for individuals and businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa, announced in a press release.

The collaboration will connect Ecobank’s banking infrastructure with Thunes’ Direct Global Network, which spans over 130 countries and links to 7 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts. The partnership will allow faster settlements, improved liquidity access, and simplified money transfers across borders.

The rollout begins in Togo, where Ecobank Group customers can now receive instant payments from global remittance partners. The initiative will gradually expand across Ecobank’s 32-country network, subject to local regulations.

This partnership follows a memorandum of understanding initially signed between Ecobank and TransferTo, Thunes’ holding company, in 2024, aimed at improving cross-border financial access across Africa.
