SEI and Accenture Release AI Adoption Maturity Model

The Software Engineering Institute and Accenture have introduced the AI Adoption Maturity Model, a framework designed to help organizations assess and scale their AI capabilities with measurable outcomes.

Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and Accenture have introduced the Artificial Intelligence Adoption Maturity Model, an empirically validated framework aimed at helping organizations transition from AI experimentation to enterprise-level adoption with predictable results, according to a press release.

The model provides a structured method for assessing AI readiness across eight key dimensions, including organizational strategy, data, engineering, operations, and governance. It defines five levels of maturity, from exploratory AI to future-ready AI, offering a roadmap for organizations to measure progress and align AI initiatives with business outcomes.

Developed through collaboration between SEI researchers and Accenture practitioners, the model draws on SEI’s experience with maturity frameworks such as CMMI and CERT-RMM. It was tested with several Fortune 500 companies, including Bosch Global Software Technologies, to validate its applicability in real-world environments.

The framework is available for download from the SEI Digital Library. SEI and Accenture will host a webcast on June 9 to discuss its implementation and insights from pilot programs.
