Scout Ventures Closes $125 Million Fund to Back AI and Defense Technologies

Scout Ventures has closed an oversubscribed $125 million Fund V to invest in early-stage companies developing technologies in AI, autonomy, space, and power systems for defense and commercial applications.

Scout Ventures has closed its oversubscribed $125 million Fund V to invest in emerging technology companies working in artificial intelligence, autonomy, space infrastructure, and advanced power systems, announced in a press release.

The firm said the new fund will focus on dual-use technologies that support both commercial markets and national security needs. Scout Ventures often backs startups founded by veterans and military-affiliated entrepreneurs with deep operational experience.

Fund V extends the firm’s investments in areas such as AI-enabled command systems, autonomous vehicles, GPS-denied navigation, and electronic warfare. The fund also targets enabling technologies in infrastructure, sensing, and connectivity.

Scout Ventures’ previous funds supported companies including Tomahawk Robotics, which was acquired by AeroVironment, and ID.ME, which reached unicorn status. The firm stated that Fund V will continue to support founders building technologies that strengthen defense capabilities and industrial resilience.
