Qualcomm and Amazon to Develop Custom Silicon for AI Data Centers

Qualcomm and Amazon will collaborate across multiple product generations to develop custom silicon for AI data centers, initially focused on inference.

Qualcomm Technologies and Amazon will develop custom silicon for AI data centers through a collaboration spanning multiple product generations, Qualcomm said in a press release. The initial work will focus on AI inference.

The companies will also develop optical connectivity solutions supporting bandwidths of up to 1.6T, along with later generations of the technology. The work will use Qualcomm's serializer and deserializer technology and optical digital signal processors.

Qualcomm also plans to expand its use of Amazon Web Services infrastructure, including Amazon Bedrock, for electronic design automation workloads. The company expects the tools to help shorten chip design cycles.
