OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Atlas, an AI-powered web browser available globally on macOS, with versions for Windows, iOS, and Android coming soon. The browser integrates ChatGPT directly into browsing, offering features such as a sidebar assistant, memory personalization, and an agent mode for task automation.

OpenAI has launched its new AI-powered browser, ChatGPT Atlas, available globally on macOS, according to details on ChatGPT.com. Versions for Windows, iOS, and Android are expected soon. The browser integrates OpenAI’s ChatGPT directly into web navigation, allowing users to chat with pages, summarize content, and perform tasks within a sidebar interface.

ChatGPT Atlas includes a “sidecar” panel that provides contextual assistance for any webpage, removing the need to copy and paste content into the chatbot. Users can highlight text in emails or documents to get in-line help through the “cursor chat” function. The browser also introduces memory features that let ChatGPT recall browsing history and personalize responses, with controls for clearing data or using incognito mode.

A key feature, “agent mode,” enables ChatGPT to interact with websites on behalf of users to complete tasks such as booking travel or editing documents. This mode is initially limited to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Business subscribers. Atlas also supports standard browser tools like tabs, bookmarks, and search, combining traditional browsing with AI assistance under user-controlled privacy settings.
