OpenAI Plans High-Cost AI Agents for Specialized Tasks
OpenAI is reportedly planning to introduce a range of specialized AI agents with monthly fees reaching up to $20,000, according to The Information. These agents are designed for various applications, including sales lead management, software engineering, and PhD-level research.
The pricing structure for these AI agents varies significantly based on their intended use. A "high-income knowledge worker" agent is expected to cost $2,000 per month, while a software developer agent is priced at $10,000 per month. The most expensive option, aimed at supporting PhD-level research, will reportedly be available for $20,000 per month.
While the exact launch date and customer eligibility for these tools remain unclear, The Information notes that SoftBank, an investor in OpenAI, has committed to spending $3 billion on these agent products this year. This move comes as OpenAI seeks to offset significant financial losses, having reportedly lost around $5 billion last year due to operational costs.
