OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT with New Shopping Features
OpenAI has updated ChatGPT to enhance its web search capabilities, focusing on improving the online shopping experience. The new features include personalized product recommendations, images, reviews, and direct purchase links, . These updates are available to all ChatGPT users, including those on Pro, Plus, and Free tiers, as well as logged-out users.
The shopping results are determined independently and are not influenced by advertisements. Instead, they rely on structured metadata from third-party sources, such as pricing and product descriptions. ChatGPT will also display trending searches and autocomplete suggestions to streamline the search process.
OpenAI is also experimenting with integrating its memory feature with shopping for Pro and Plus users, allowing ChatGPT to reference previous chats for more personalized recommendations. However, this feature will not be available in the EU, the U.K., Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
