OpenAI Reaches $12 Billion in Annualized Revenue with ChatGPT Growth
OpenAI has reached $12 billion in annualized revenue, doubling its income in the first seven months of the year, according to The Information. This significant growth is attributed to the increasing popularity of its ChatGPT products, which now have approximately 700 million weekly active users.
The company is generating around $1 billion a month, a substantial increase from the $500 million monthly revenue at the start of the year. This rapid expansion has prompted OpenAI to raise its cash burn projection to $8 billion for 2025, up by $1 billion from earlier estimates.
OpenAI is also nearing the close of a $7.5 billion funding round, part of a larger $30 billion funding effort. Major investors like Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global Management are contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to this round. The company plans to use the funds to expand its infrastructure, including renting more chips to support its AI models and investing in data centers in collaboration with SoftBank.
