Murata will invest about ¥1 trillion in multilayer ceramic capacitor production from fiscal 2026 through fiscal 2030, targeting at least twice its fiscal 2025 sales.

Murata Manufacturing plans to invest about ¥1 trillion in multilayer ceramic capacitor production from fiscal 2026 through fiscal 2030, the company announced in a press release. Murata expects MLCC sales in fiscal 2030 to reach at least twice the fiscal 2025 level.

The investment includes about ¥350 billion for buildings and ¥650 billion for production equipment. Murata will construct facilities at existing sites, install equipment, increase the capacity of current equipment and acquire some land.

Projects include new facilities in Okayama and Shimane prefectures, along with investment in Thailand and the Philippines. The Okayama projects will receive about ¥150 billion, with construction scheduled to begin in April 2027, and Murata plans to build a workforce of 1,500 to 2,000 people there by 2030.

MLCCs are used in smartphones, vehicles, industrial equipment and data centers. Murata said the expansion will address demand from data centers, edge devices, mobility products and robotics.
