MTN and Microsoft to Roll Out AI Learning Tools Across Africa

November 26, 2025
MTN Group has announced a partnership with Microsoft to expand access to AI-powered learning and productivity tools across Africa, with the rollout of Microsoft 365 and Copilot beginning in 2026.

African telecommunications company MTN Group has entered into a partnership with Microsoft to expand access to artificial intelligence learning and productivity tools across the continent. The rollout is scheduled to begin in 2026 in selected MTN markets.

The collaboration will make Microsoft 365, including the Copilot AI assistant, available across MTN user devices such as computers, smartphones, and tablets. Copilot is designed to assist with research, writing, communication, and collaboration tasks, while Microsoft 365’s built-in security features will help protect users against phishing and data loss.

MTN said the initiative supports its goal of advancing digital inclusion by giving millions of customers access to AI-driven tools that enhance learning and productivity. The operator, which recently reached 300 million customers, aims to extend these benefits to students, young professionals, and small businesses.

Microsoft stated that the partnership will help users across Africa participate more effectively in the digital economy by improving access to skills development and digital tools. The deployment forms part of MTN’s broader strategy to integrate AI into its services and network operations.
