Mount Sinai Deploys Clarium AI Vision to Modernize Surgical Supply Management

June 02, 2026
Mount Sinai Health System will implement Clarium’s AI-powered computer vision technology across its hospitals to automate surgical supply tracking and reduce waste, according to a press release.

Mount Sinai Health System will deploy Clarium's computer vision technology to automate surgical supply management across eight hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, announced in a press release.

The system will use Clarium Vision, which combines cameras and AI models to capture surgical supply usage directly in the operating room. The technology replaces manual documentation by automatically recording and validating each item used, improving accuracy and reducing staff workload. Supplies are cross-checked against Clarium’s central database to identify expired or recalled products.

Data captured by the system will feed into Mount Sinai’s supply databases and preference card workflows. The health system expects this to enhance purchasing precision, reduce waste, and improve governance in perioperative operations. Mount Sinai performs about 100,000 surgical procedures annually, making efficient supply management a key operational focus.

According to Clarium, Mount Sinai selected its platform for its data model suited to large health systems, integrated workflow automation, and proven change management framework. Success metrics will include reduced supply waste, improved preference card accuracy, and decreased time spent on manual documentation.
