Graduate students from MIT and Harvard built AI tools for four nonprofits through the AI for Social Impact Fellowship, with participating organizations now planning broader use.

NextLadder Ventures, The Bike Shop at MIT, and Anthropic co hosted a Demo Day in San Francisco for new AI tools focused on economic mobility, announced in a press release. The tools were built by four teams of graduate students from MIT and Harvard University as part of the inaugural AI for Social Impact Fellowship.

The participating organizations are now planning broader use of the tools. Money Management International is rolling out a call intelligence tool that reviews debt counselor calls and gives feedback tied to enrollment in debt repayment programs.

Center for Employment Opportunities is adding an evaluation and monitoring tool for its AI voice coach, which supports people leaving incarceration with interview preparation. Climb Together is adding feedback to its AI coach for recorded networking conversations.

Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners is integrating a tool that analyzes bank and credit statements during calls to help financial coaches identify debt reduction paths more quickly. The tool will be available to its coaches and to allied coaching providers through its technical assistance and capacity building work.
