Mirantis Partners with Neocloud Providers to Build AI Infrastructure

March 11, 2026
Mirantis announced partnerships with emerging 'neocloud' providers to develop large-scale AI infrastructure, focusing on energy access, sovereignty, and vertical integration to meet rising compute demand.

Mirantis announced it is collaborating with a new class of AI infrastructure providers, known as "neoclouds," to build and operate large-scale AI data centers or "AI factories" designed for intelligence production, announced in a press release. The company said these partnerships aim to address accelerating compute demand driven by consumer AI tools and enterprise productivity applications.

According to CEO Alex Freedland, neocloud providers differ from traditional cloud operators by focusing on energy acquisition, computational infrastructure, and the sale of AI services. Freedland noted that these companies are vertically integrating their operations, moving from raw GPU infrastructure to orchestrated compute and intelligence services, improving economics at each stage.

Freedland highlighted two main challenges defining this new market: energy constraints and sovereignty. Neoclouds are securing power contracts and grid access to ensure scalable energy supply, while sovereignty requirements are driving local control over AI infrastructure and data. These factors are expected to lead to hybrid consumption models combining hyperscalers, neoclouds, and sovereign providers.

Mirantis stated that the growth of AI applications continues to strain existing capacity, with demand increasing fiftyfold year over year. Freedland added that, despite concerns about overbuilding, the company sees strong economic justification for continued AI infrastructure expansion.
