Microsoft Introduces Mico, a Visual AI Companion for Copilot

October 23, 2025
Microsoft has unveiled Mico, a new expressive AI avatar for its Copilot platform, offering users a more personal and interactive experience through visual and voice-based features.

Microsoft announced in a blog post the launch of Mico, an expressive visual companion for its Copilot platform. Introduced during the company’s Copilot Fall Release event, Mico provides a customizable, animated presence that reacts to user interactions and changes color during conversations.

According to Microsoft, Mico enhances voice mode interactions by offering a warmer, more natural experience. Users can disable the feature if preferred. Mico can also store conversation memories and learn from user feedback, helping personalize future responses. The feature is initially available in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

The Copilot Fall Release also introduces a “Real Talk” mode that adjusts to conversational tone and can challenge user perspectives, as well as long-term memory, shared chat groups, and new connectors to link productivity apps like email and cloud storage. Microsoft Edge is evolving into an AI browser capable of summarizing, comparing, and acting on web content, such as booking hotels or filling out forms.

In his announcement, Mustafa Suleyman described Mico as part of Microsoft’s effort to make AI more personal and supportive, emphasizing that the updates are now available in the U.S. and rolling out to other regions in the coming weeks.
