Latent AI Joins DoD's APFIT Program to Enhance Edge AI
Latent AI has been selected by the U.S. Department of Defense for the Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT) program, announced in a press release. This selection builds on the company's previous success with Project AMMO, which significantly reduced AI model update times for naval operations.
Project AMMO, a collaboration with the Defense Innovation Unit and the U.S. Navy, demonstrated the effectiveness of Latent AI's Efficient Inference Platform (LEIP) in enhancing naval mine countermeasures. The project enabled rapid adaptation of AI models in the field, proving the value of edge AI for real-time decision-making in challenging environments.
Latent AI joins other companies like Domino Data Lab, Weights and Biases, Fiddler, and Arize in the APFIT initiative. The program aims to advance edge AI technologies for defense applications, with funding evenly distributed among the participating companies. This initiative underscores the DoD's commitment to integrating innovative technologies through agile processes, emphasizing the importance of edge computing and AI optimization in modern defense strategies.
