HD Hyundai and Palantir Discuss AI Shipyard Collaboration

HD Hyundai's Executive Vice Chairman Chung Kisun met with Palantir CEO Alex Karp to discuss their ongoing AI shipyard project and potential defense sector collaborations.

HD Hyundai Executive Vice Chairman Chung Kisun recently met with Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp to discuss their collaborative efforts on the 'AI Shipyard' project, announced in a press release. The meeting took place at Palantir's Washington, D.C., office, where the two leaders reviewed the progress of the project and explored further cooperation in the defense sector.

The AI Shipyard project, part of HD Hyundai's Future of Shipyard (FOS) initiative, aims to integrate advanced digital technologies such as AI, robotics, and automation into shipbuilding processes. The goal is to achieve a 30% improvement in productivity and a 30% reduction in construction time by 2030. The collaboration between HD Hyundai and Palantir, which began in 2021, also includes the development of the unmanned surface vessel 'TENEBRIS'.

During the meeting, both companies agreed that their partnership could significantly enhance the security capabilities of the United States and South Korea. They emphasized the importance of AI-based defense solutions in future national security strategies. Chung Kisun is currently in the United States to attend CERA Week, a major energy event in Houston, Texas.
